Beginning in September, the 8am Sunday Mass is canceled. For some time now, the Archdiocese has been strongly recommending that Pastors reduce the number of Masses. The reality is that numbers of people attending Mass is down considerably from before the Pandemic. Another recommendation, almost a requirement, has been that Masses in the same church be scheduled at least one and a half hours apart. This is primarily so that people can arrive and depart safely to and from Masses. It can be dangerous if people are rushing to leave and others to park at the same time. Finally, with the possibility very likely that we will have fewer priests to celebrate Masses in the coming years, it makes sense to plan for the shortage of priests sooner rather than later by scheduling fewer Masses.
