In the sacristy entrance of the church, we have installed a stunning image of Jesus called: Suffer the Little Children and Forbid Them Not to Come to Me by 3D Computer Graphics
Artist Ray Downing. Downing created a series of animations of Christ based on the Shroud of Turin. They were featured in two subsequent History Channel specials: The
Real Face of Jesus? and Jesus: the Lost 40 Days. He went on to create two Jesus portraits – Jesus in Death and Jesus Resurrected. Today there are more than fifteen beautiful images in this collection of which our image is one.
Since the face of Jesus here depicted has been created from digital information from the Shroud of Turin, it ties in meaningfully with the sculpture within the chapel, depicting Our Lord in His Mother’s loving arms right before the shroud was place over Him.
It is our hope that this image will beckon many to Our Lady Memorial Chapel and the Children’s Memorial within, and provide comfort to all grieving parents who come here to be consoled.
The image is dedicated to all children inscribed in Seton’s Book of Remembrance, both now and in the future.
