Our own Deacon Gaspare (Frank) Bruno was called home to the Lord on February 2, 2010, after a full life of loving service to his own family, the Seton Parish family and the wider community.
Upon his death, a fund was established to provide for a fitting memorial to this great man. Many contributed, and over $30,000 has been raised to date.
Over the years, many projects have been considered, however none came to fruition. In discerning what should be done with the funds, it has been decided that a scholarship fund would be established. Deacon Bruno particularly loved the children of the parish and devoted himself to their welfare. Both his wife Pauline and the Parish Council agree that this is a good use of the generous donations of so many, and a fitting tribute to Deacon Bruno.
The Finance Council has recommended the establishment of the Deacon Bruno Scholarship. This one time award of $2,000.00 per student is awarded to two Seton Parish graduating eighth graders each year and is dedicated to enabling the selected students to attend a Catholic high school. One student selected will be from Seton School and the other from the Religious Education Program.
The criteria are: Catholic spirit, Christian service, academic achievement, and financial need. The students are selected by the Principal of Seton School and the Coordinator of Religious Education in consultation with their respective faculties and with the approval of the pastor.
